Design Analysis Group Chief, Engineering Department
Eiji Shimizu

When speaking about design work, there is an image of being stuck at a desk struggling with the material with a mouse in one hand, but as there is a factory annex, you can actually walk over and directly experience the product you have designed with your own eyes and your own touch.
Of course, it’s also simple to directly take part in heated debate with the workers (ha!). It’s an ideal environment for a designer.
I also get a good sensation from the enthusiasm of the workers battling with the metal, which comes through the single door separating me from the other side, and allows me to continue polishing my skills each day.

There is also the fact that this is a “Science City” and so various information comes flying in on a daily basis.
These things together make this a worthwhile workplace where I am able to work at collaborating with other companies (and industries) and building new relationships (and products).
